Whoaaa — here’s an interesting bit that went unmentioned in today’s Apple announcement: Apple has seemingly built a SIM card that lets you swap between AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile without having to swap it out (or, more likely, track down/purchase a new SIM card when you want to switch carriers). The new iPad Air feels a lot like the old iPad Air, and that’s a good thing, But it’s amazing the difference that shaving just a little more off of the thickness of the device can do, in terms of its overall presence in the hand. This iPad Air definitely feels more portable, and I’d imagine will be a lot more comfortable to hold over longer periods, thanks to the additional… Read More

Apple’s new iPhones have been available for around a month now, and something interesting has happened with this generation: I’m forced to revisit my original reviews and change my initial impression based on later experience. After further testing of the two devices, I find the iPhone 6 Plus has become my smartphone of choice, as a surprising first choice over the iPhone 6. The 6… Read More

Apple has patented a way for a computing device to pick up input when a flexible display is bent or reshaped in some way, according to a new filing published by the USPTO today (via AppleInsider). The patent details a process by which new flexible displays can receive input triggers via bending, allowing it to send an MMS message specifically upon receiving a bending cue. Read More

In my initial review of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, I didn’t spend too much time dwelling on third-party app compatibility. That’s because A) I was content with the way iOS handled upscaling lower-resolution apps, and B) I was primarily spending time in first-party software. But using Gmail on both devices via the native app over a longer period of time has proved trying. Today,… Read More

GT Advanced Technologies, which has a supply relationship with Apple after an agreement struck late last year, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company will continue to operate as normal despite the filing, which is designed to protect its assets and operating budget from debt while it restructures and re-finances its obligations. Apple’s relationship with GT… Read More

There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding the new iPhone 6 Plus. It’s the new golden child of Apple’s product line, bigger, thinner and more beautiful than ever. However, the size may just be detrimental to people who have smaller hands and can’t easily handle the large, slippery iPhone. And then there was all the #bendgate stuff. Read More
